The U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-B was a modified Excelsior-class vessel commissioned in the year 2293 and launched under the command of Captain John Harriman. On its first mission, the crew rescued 47 El-Aurians from the Nexus. It was the third Federation vessel to be named Enterprise.
The bridge of the Enterprise-B shared many similarities to the bridge of its predecessor. A recessed, circular command pit contained the captain’s chair and updated designs of the helm and navigation consoles, with a large viewscreen directly in front. Stations for science, communications, propulsion systems, environment, mission ops, and auxiliary systems lined the front half of the bridge’s perimeter. In between the two side turbolift alcoves was an extended rear area that gave access to the rest of Deck One, and contained a large free-standing console in front of a large master systems display. Red carpet and guest seating were provided for honored guests during the ship’s maiden voyage following its christening in 2293.

The model of the U.S.S. Enterprise-B was created using molds for the U.S.S. Excelsior from Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, with a modified secondary hull and other details designed by John Eaves.

The bridge of the U.S.S. Enterprise-B was designed by Herman Zimmerman with the art department for Star Trek Generations. It was decided to leave it close to the style used by Nicholas Meyer for the Enterprise-A bridge in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, to better contrast with the U.S.S. Enterprise-D bridge which appeared later in the same film.
