Regula I (2285)
Regula I was a scientific research station in orbit of the D-class planetoid Regula. By 2285, the laboratory on Regula I was being used by Dr. Carol Marcus’ team of scientists for Project Genesis, a classified Federation effort to find a way to quickly terraform uninhabitable planets. Khan Noonien Singh and his crew infiltrated Regula I using the stolen U.S.S. Reliant and attacked the station’s inhabitants, seeking to steal the Genesis Device for use as a weapon.

As portrayed in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn (Film, 1982)
The Regula I model was originally designed by Andrew Probert to portray the orbital office complex in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Industrial Light & Magic supervising modelmaker Steve Gawley flipped the model upside-down and changed out some of its finer details to portray Regula I in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. The model continued to be altered and reused as various space stations throughout the productions of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
